5 Books to Introduce STEM

Having been out of the regular classroom for a few years, there was one thing that I was really looking forward to, and that was integrating STEM into my curriculum.  I’m still in the beginning stages, but I hit the ground running.  My students absolutely LOVE the activities that we have been doing for STEM!!

A majority of my students didn’t even know what an engineer was.  Also, most of my students were used to starting a task and finishing it while expecting a right or wrong answer.   So, to introduce  STEM into the classroom, I began with sharing a collection of read alouds.

Here is a list of my favorites so far.

1. Rosie Revere, Engineer by Andrea Beaty

2.  Ada Twist, Scientist by Andrea Beaty

3.  The Most Magnificent Thing by Ashley Spires

4.  Violet the Pilot by Steve Breen

5.  What Do You Do With a Problem by Kobi Yamada

As my journey with STEM continues, I’m sure my reading collection will too! 🙂
